Climate Engagement with Companies
Introduction
As part of its strategic activities, the Investors for Climate Initiative (IPC) has been conducting periodic cycles of engagement on the climate agenda with Brazilian companies since 2020. Engagement activities are part of the practice of stewardship, implying interventions in relation to specific assets in order to preserve or increase their value. As the effects of climate change become more evident, the climate engagement of investees becomes even more important in the process of managing climate risks, enabling investors to become more aware of companies sustainability-related actions.
Meet the companies analyzed in 2023
For the first time, IPC became the analysis of the companies engaged publicly available, in order to promote transparency and make data available to the market. The companies engaged in this cycle were Eletrobras, Petrobras, Vale, Gerdau and PRIO, companies selected by IPC investors based on the international Climate Action 100+ (CA100+) methodology.
